About the Scholarship

The ESET Women in Cybersecurity Scholarship marks its 10th anniversary in 2025, continuing its mission to empower women in cybersecurity and STEM. This year, the program expands with increased awards, refined evaluation criteria, and a focus on both technical excellence and emerging potential.

Eligibility

Applicants must be pursuing a degree in cybersecurity or a closely related STEM field, with a demonstrated emphasis on cybersecurity.

Scholarship Categories

  • Cybersecurity Trailblazer Award

    • United States: Three $10,000 scholarships for applicants demonstrating outstanding technical achievements in cybersecurity. This includes a special award for a San Diego recipient, honoring the program’s origins.
    • Canada: Two $5,000 scholarships for applicants with exceptional technical skills and cybersecurity focus.
  • Future Leader Award (New – Canada ONLY)

    • Five $1,000 scholarships for promising Canadian applicants who show potential in cybersecurity but may not yet have extensive accolades.

This initiative reflects ESET’s commitment to closing the gender gap in cybersecurity, supporting both established talent and emerging leaders.

Application Process & Requirements

Applicants must create an account or log in to Reviewr to submit their applications. Submissions are accepted in English, French, and Spanish.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Gender Identity: Open to individuals who identify as women.
  • Residency: Must be a citizen or permanent resident of the U.S. or Canada.
  • Enrollment: Must be enrolled or accepted into an accredited undergraduate, graduate, or vocational program in North America.
  • Field of Study: Must be pursuing a degree in cybersecurity or a related STEM field, with a strong focus on cybersecurity topics.
  • Academic Status: Open to full-time, part-time, and non-traditional students re-entering education.

Required Documents

  • Unofficial transcript
  • Letter of recommendation
  • Volunteer/community work experience
  • Personal essay (500-700 words) outlining achievements, potential, or passion for cybersecurity

Application Deadline

  • Deadline to apply: April 8, 2025
  • Winners notified by the end of June 2025

Disqualification Criteria

  • Personal details (ethnicity, gender, etc.) included in the essay will lead to immediate disqualification to maintain fairness.
  • Applications based solely on financial need without demonstrating personal goals or achievements may face deductions.
  • Incomplete contact information (email, phone number, mailing address) will result in disqualification, and follow-ups will not be made.
